Timoteij became famous overnight in Sweden's most popular TV show Melodifestivalen, in 2010. The group, composed of Elina Thorsell (flute and vocals), Cecilia Kallin (guitar and vocals) and Bodil Bergström (accordion and vocals), at the time only 18 years old, described it as a "shock of happiness" when they made it all the way to the finals. Ever since, Timoteij has been touring all over Sweden, and also in parts of Finland, Poland and Estonia.
Timoteij won The Eurovision Second Chance Contest that very same year. They have participated in all the major TV and radio shows in Sweden, and had the honour to lead the Swedish national anthem in the official national day celebration on TV. Timoteij's first album was rewarded with a gold record before it was even released, and contained among other songs a duet with the talented Eurovision Song Contest winner Alexander Ryback.
Music video and sleeve photo in Jordan
Timoteij had a busy start of 2015, commencing with a one week trip to Jordan. In the majestic and stunningly beautiful scenery they shot exotic photographs as well as an amazing music video for their first English single: Wildfire. Shortly after returning to Sweden, Timoteij left for a promotion tour in Ireland where they played at the celebrated venue The Mercantile, Dublin.
"Standing on our own feet"
Last spring Timoteij ended cooperations with their former label, management and booking company. After a year of hard work and a lot of time in the studio writing songs, the girls are looking forward to releasing new material and touring abroad.
"- It has been a bewildering time for all of us, but in the midst of uncertainty we found new inspiration. We are now standing on our own feet, and with our new songs we can't wait to play for an international audience. Wildfire is just the beginning", says Bodil Bergström, Elina Thorsell and Cecilia Kallin.
